The clinical/counseling psychology concentration is designed for students who are interested in a career helping people from diverse backgrounds who are experiencing life stress and mental health concerns. Students will learn about psychological theories; careers in mental health care; and psychological disorders. They will develop skills to communicate effectively with others and delve deeper into multicultural issues. Courses including Psychology of Personality; Introduction to Clinical Psychology; Abnormal Psychology; Child Psychology; and Multicultural Psychology. In addition, students will have the opportunity to assist Â鶹´«Ã½ professors with innovative research in the areas of multicultural psychology and developmental psychopathology. This concentration is best suited for students who want to pursue a graduate degree in social work, clinical psychology, or counseling. After graduate school, students often pursue careers as therapists or licensed psychologists.
