Biography

David Strittmatter is Assistant Professor of History, and he oversees public history initiatives at Â鶹´«Ã½. His research interests include memory, preservation, and tourism. His current book project, British National Identity and Memory in the Twentieth Century, is under contract at Palgrave Macmillan. It explores how battlefields, political sites, and world’s fairgrounds in the United Kingdom develop as heritage sites. Since 2019, Strittmatter has directed the , which is a collection of interviews with Ohio National Guardsmen involved in the campus shootings of May 4th, 1970.  In March 2022, the Iowa native led a class of 27 students to France and Belgium to explore various locations associated with the world wars.
