ART & DESIGN
Students in the art & design major will:
- Formulate the ability to manipulate elements and principles of composition.
- Understand historical knowledge of visual arts and artists/designers.
- Employ critical thinking skills in the creation and analysis of visual arts.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in a variety of visual arts media.
- Build creative and productive visual solutions.
- Construct visual solutions based upon process, research, and materiality.
ART EDUCATION
Students in the art education major will:
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically about a variety of visual art.
- Verify the ability to manipulate elements and principles of design.
- Verify creativity and productivity in the visual arts.
- Demonstrate historical knowledge of artists and the visual arts.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency.
COMMUNICATION & MEDIA
Students will demonstrate the following:
- Ability to analyze and synthesize materials from a variety of source to construct sound arguments using critical thinking
- Ability to identify and describe several foundational theories across the communication discipline
- Proficiency in public presentations, including organization, research, argumentation, delivery, visual aids, and audience adaptation
- Ability to locate and utilize a variety of research materials to construct arguments and support positions
- Proficiency in written communication, including the ability to write a discipline-specific research paper
- Ability to recognize and solve problems related to everyday communication
